TheOnlyReason

[frm Roxy's blog]

It takes millions of years for a species to evolve. It takes just a few moments for that species to disappear forever from the globe. The only reason.. The only reason being human beings. The only reason being I. The only reason being YOU.

I pity myself for my inability to cover my arms around the globe and protect it
My arms are not so wide
But could do one thing
I could use your arms as well
No, it’s still not wide enough
Will you call someone else too?
Yes, if more and more join, we could do something!
We could cover the globe so that no green grass falls off it

Mother Earth held us to her breasts till now. Now she is weak and old. It’s our turn to show gratitude. It’s your turn.. Will you?

Somehow I feel bugged. There’re very few (is it so?) who take time for, or love, nature. Is it that they don’t have time to? Where’re you all heading to? Are you so much obsessed with your career and pride and money that you can’t stop a while to think of nature? Or do you think there’re some nature lovers, they’ll do it all? No yaar! It takes efforts from all to preserve every species we have now, every shade of green you’ve seen.

Actually, only a little time is left to repair. So what can we do? Hmm.. Let me think. With this single article, you won’t go out and stand for Kyoto Protocol or raise your voice to defend global warming, will you? You won’t go out and see whether your local government is giving out pesticides and poisons which go up the food chain and damage life on earth, would you?

Kyoto Protocol

I felt the article pretty thought provocating,so took a excerpt frm the original article.

Latest controversy:Caricatures of the Prophet

Reportedly,a Danish news paper published some obnoxious caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.Well,I dont know how Muhmmad was portrayed in the cartoons but it seems Muslims are actually against the thought of portraying their Prophet Muhammad in newspapers/magazines.All this stuff is not a point of interest to me.But I wonder about what followed the Danish incident. Many European news papapers had published the cartoons in the name of 'Freedom of Expression'.I cant understand whether their stand of freedom of expression is legitimate.
Challenging the argument, leading Iranian daily Hamshahri has invited foreigners to participate in a cartoon competition on the Holocaust . "Does the West extend freedom of expression to the crimes committed by the United States and Israel, or an event such as the Holocaust? Or is its freedom only for insulting religious sanctities?" asked the daily.
Doesnt it make sense? The western countries always speak of ideals and freedom to just support their view. What about American stand towards local news channels in Iraq and Arab countries?

Palestinian confusion

A lay man,who doesnt even have interest in world politics knows the Middle-East conflict. There lies an ever-burning oven. The news paper dailies are filled with stories of massacres in the Israel-Palestinian border.Recently there was a sensation out there. Its not a mass murder or a suicide attack. The great western political heads are burning their minds not knowing what to do to tackle the situation.
'Hamas'-a extremist group given terrorist stamp both by US and EU long long ago, won the elections which are termed as the most judicial and demotrically held elections till date in the Arab(even GeorgeBush agrees that!).
Well, the problem comes here.Bush, the beacon of democracy around the world(as his words and actions imply!) cant just abandon Hamas government because it is elected by people with a clear majority.Either he cant move hands on hands with the Hamas government, which would only imply formal support of terrorism. The same is with EU.It cant just stop the funding suddenly.
The people who are intensivley shocked by the result are neither Americans nor Europians. Its the Hamas who won the election. They were only expecting to become a strong opposition. How can a group supplying belt-bombs get itself into supplying medicine and food?Hamas invited Fatah-the ruling party in the past to form coalition government, but it seems the offer is rejected.
No need to mention Israel's reaction on it.Leave aside peace talks, the situation is more worse. What happens then?
Only time can answer.
