Just vocab!

1, abate = subside, moderate

as in "They waited for the storm to abate."

2, abet = assist, usually in doing something wrong

3, abeyance = suspended action

4, abject = wretched, lacking pride, hopeless

5, aberrant = abnormal, deviant

as in "aberrant data"

6, abjure = renounce upon oath

7, ablution = cleansing, washing

8, abortive = unsuccessful, fruitless

9, abrogate = abolish

as in "The rule has been abrogated by mutual consent."

10, abscond = depart secretly and hide

as in "She absconded from every children's home she was kept in."

11, absolve = pardon an offense

12, abstemious = sparing from eating and drinking

13, abstruse = difficult to understand

14, abut = adjoin

15, accomodate = making space, help, adjust

16, accost = approach in person, come up to, approach with an offer of sexual favours

17, Accoutrement = the equipment needed for a paricular activity or way of life

18, accretion = an increase by natural growth or addition, accumulation

as in "he scrapped away the accretions of paint"

19, acquiesce = to agree, to accept sth without arguing, even if you do not really agree with it

20, acrophobia = the fear of heights
